Mom - I love this blog of yours. Very neat. I'm looking forward to returning to it and learning more about our ancestors :)

You're wonderful. Thanks for the heritage you have given us.

I'm researching my own family through a course I'm taking, and after "googling" my grandfather's brother, I found your page!!

My grandfather is Michael Bradley Maryatt. This is amazing information you have! I can't tell you how excited I am, seeing as my grandfather doesn't remember much about his family-so much is right here! Do you have photocopies of what Jessie Wilson wrote in the family Bible? I would loooooove to have a copy if possible!

Dear Ashley,
I just happened to come into my blog that I haven't visited for the last year and a half, at least. We spent 2 years selling our home and business in WA and finding a teaching job in AZ (my husband). So what a nice Christmas gift to see your message on my neglected blog. I will send you whatever information you would like. I have a ton of it. The Kilburn side (Jessie's side) goes back to the Mayflower on some lines. The Wilson side is very interesting too. I would love to get a current email for your grandfather. Sorry for the long stretch in answering you--I hope you will somehow receive this. Sincerely, Doris Castleton

Hi Doris!

I'm so excited to hear back from you!! Which mode of communication would be easiest for you in sending family information my way? My email address is amaryatt@gmail.com. I will ask my grandfather when I see him next weekend if he minds if I share his email address... he doesn't check it very often so this is the fastest way for me to ask him right now!

I did know that part of my grandfather's side went back to the Mayflower - I have a letter somewhere from my great great grandfather to his daughter in response to her asking how they are connected to the Mayflower in which he lists the names all the way back! I'll have to hunt that down.

By the way, I am so happy that somehow my email address was linked to your blog after posting on it... I got an email saying you'd written back to me today. I doubt I would have made it back to your blog since my hard drive on this computer when I had your link saved! I am so excited to hear back from you - I don't mind the waiting!! :)

Ashley

Oops, I meant to say that my hard drive on this computer has died since saving the link to your blog. Hopefully that made more sense! :)

Dear Ashley,
There has been so much going on in my life--my oldest daughter had a mastectomy in Feb. and my daughter in AZ had her 4th baby in April; then my father-in-law (age 88) broke his hip and he was Mother's primary care giver (she has Alzheimer's), so I've been up in Albany, Ore. caring for them for the past month and a half. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get back to you. I am thrilled that you responded to me. I do so want to write back and forth and share what I have. I haven't put that much on my blog because I didn't have enough time to learn how to use it after I got it set up. I'm so very glad you found me through it. We can continue to communicate through the blog--that way we would have a record of all information shared. Or we could email: my email is doriscastleton@gmail.com. I do have a photocopy of Jessie Wilson's family Bible page(s). I am so bad at getting things into the mail, so I hope I can remember to follow through with it when I get back home. In the meantime, I can direct you to some information online. Just let me know how you want to communicate, (either email or through this blog), and we can start moving. Thank you so much. Please give your grandfather a warm hello from me. I got a letter saying he was moving/or changing his address or email or something, but then I never heard back about his email address. I don't have to have it if I can communicate through you. Sincerely, Doris Castleton

Hi, Doris,

I just stumbled across your blog. I found out earlier this year that the Maryatt boys are my daughter's great uncles. I did talk to Michael on day about family, but he's not too interested in his extended family. I also emailed Ashley a couple of times, but she has never written back.

I'm glad to get the marriage date from the bible record. You might be interested to know that his father, David, had at least nine children. One of them only lived a few minutes after birth. All but one were boys. My granddaughter's grandfather on her father's side of the family (I'm on her mother's side) was adopted. It seems that none of the family knew about any of the kids except for Michael and Charles as they are the only two who were mentioned in David's mother's family book. If you would like a copy of the book, let me know and I will email it to you. elldabee@prodigy.net.
